What is the SKills & Growth Levy?

The Growth and Skills Levy is the Government’s reform of the current Apprenticeship Levy. It is designed to give organisations more flexibility in how they invest in workforce development and skills training.

The aim is to help employers build the skills they actually need, while making it easier to use levy funding for a wider range of training and development activity.

How does the levy work?

Like the existing Apprenticeship Levy, the Growth and Skills Levy applies to employers with an annual payroll above £3 million.

Employers contribute to a digital levy account, which can then be used to fund approved training and workforce development.

The Growth and Skills Levy gives organisations more flexibility to invest in skills that directly support business performance and service delivery.

The intention is to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach and give organisations more control over how they develop their workforce.

Levy for Productivity

Turning funding into real workplace improvement

Many organisations want to do more with their levy but aren’t sure how to use it in ways that support real work. Our approach is simple:

  1. The levy pays for structured learning.
  2. The learner delivers a small improvement project.
  3. The organisation gains better workflows, stronger communication and clearer ways of working.

This creates a cycle of improvement that supports performance while people develop new skills.

It is development that makes work better, not busier.
