It was amazing to see such a mix of people from different backgrounds at the first IN4.0 Factory: Additive Manufacturing.
From electricians to engineers, students and academics and many more, there was a wide array of present and future manufacturers in attendance at the Creative Innovation Zone at UCLan’s Media Factory.
We heard some inspiring speeches from the leaders in the field of Additive Manufacturing.
Paul Croft, Director of Ultimaker GB, told fascinating stories of how 3D printing has transformed businesses across the world, not just on Return on Investment.
Melissa Snover, Managing Director and Founder of Magic Candy Factory, was also inspiring as she discussed her entrepreneurial journey to creating the world’s first 3D food printer.
Jenny Manning gave an insight into how BAE Systems are using Additive Manufacturing, while Dr Hadley Brooks relayed the tremendous opportunity that working with institutions like UCLan can provide.
Following a panel discussion, where the keynote speakers answered the audience’s burning questions, we had three industry workshops.
Paul Croft, Jenny Manning and experts from Renishaw and Photocentric were the workshop hosts, and delegates were given the chance to discuss problems, solutions and challenges of Additive Manufacturing on a more intimate level.
Magic Candy Factory’s stand was popular throughout the event, with live demonstrations of 3D printing sweets, some of which the delegates were lucky enough to take home with them.
