The Power of MIND (Mums in Data) programme is a transformative training and placement initiative that supports stay-at-home mums and career break female carers to re-enter the workforce through in-demand data roles.

Designed to fit around the realities of caregiving, MIND provides flexible, hybrid training that enables women to access high-quality, professional upskilling without compromising their family responsibilities.

Our Delivery

The programme will take place from Tuesday to Thursday, 9:30am-1pm (one of these days being in-person at Toxteth), starting on 21st October 2025 and ending on 5th March 2026.

Our Modules

Weeks 1–6: Data & Analytics Foundations

  • Core Excel skills: data cleaning, analysis, security and dashboard creation
  • Power BI fundamentals: data preparation, modelling, DAX, and interactive visualisation
  • Introduction to Azure data services, databases, and basic ETL

Weeks 7–12: Data Protection & Compliance

  • Key UK GDPR principles, lawful bases, and accountability requirements
  • Data subject rights, FOI/EIR, and the role of the ICO
  • Data breaches, enforcement, and organisational responsibilities
  • PECR, marketing rules, cookies, and data quality fundamentals
  • International data transfers and emerging global compliance issues
Your Eligibility
  • Women with children or caring responsibilities
  • You must have a Liverpool City Region post code
  • You must be aged 19 or over on the first day of the programme
  • You must not have already completed a fully funded programme from the Department for Education
  • You must have been living in the UK for at least 3 consecutive years
  • Have previous work experience (not necessarily tech)
  • Motivated to retrain in data-related fields and re-enter the workforce
Your Progression

Your Progression

As part of the programme, you will gain a qualification and knowledge in:

  • Key changes introduced by GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018
  • Individual and organisational responsibilities, including record keeping
  • Understanding and applying data subject rights
  • Role and responsibilities of a Data Protection Officer (DPO)
  • Preparing organisations to handle personal data compliantly

Post-programme, you will also receive support to find work or an opportunity to continue learning with an accelerated apprenticeship with a local employer.
