Skills City: Get Started

The Skills City starter programmes are a series of week-long courses for young learners, aged 16-25, providing them with careers inspiration, an introduction to the technology sector and a pathway into further training and career opportunities.
The syllabus can also be adapted to be delivered as shorter bitesize introductory activities, allowing for partners and sponsors to create bespoke training.

CyberFirst Futures

This course helps to enhance the skills and behaviours needed for a career in cyber security and computing. Learners gain advanced skills in some of the key areas of cyber security, including implementing digital forensics, understanding encryption technologies, using open-source intelligence techniques and penetration testing. Learn more

Esports Gamechanger

Participants learn about esports and video game skills while also being introduced to potential careers in the thriving technology industry. They also have the opportunity to boost skills in digital marketing content creation and compete in an esports tournament. Learn more.


The Digital Entrepreneurs and Video Artists Hack (DEVA/hack) empowers young people to harness the power of digital media to enable them to further their career aspirations. Learners gain knowledge and understanding of soft skills, insights into job readiness and develop their confidence and motivation to pursue digital and creative careers. Learn more.

AWS DeepRacer

The course enables learners of all skill levels to get hands-on with machine learning through an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud-based 3D racing simulator. It teaches the basics of reinforcement learning on AWS and offers a chance to use new skills to build, train and deploy a fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car, while also gaining a deep understanding of careers in cloud technology.
